The Fred Thompson Show

Thompson, perhaps most recognizable for his role as New York City’s DA on the NBC-TV series Law & Order and 2008 campaign for the Republican Presidential Nomination, has a lengthy resume in both politics and policy.

As an attorney, his political career began with Special Counsel Appointments to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Senate Intelligence Committee. In 1973, he was appointed Special Counsel to the Senate Watergate Committee and is credited with supplying the infamous question, “What did the President know, and when did he know it?” Thompson represented Tennessee as a Republican in the United States Senate from 1994 to 2003, serving on the Committee for Governmental Affairs, Finance Committee, Intelligence Committee, and National Security Working Group.

After leaving the Senate, he began a successful acting career that includes hit movies such as The Hunt for Red October, Days of Thunder, and Die Hard 2. But, it was his Southern drawl and folksy analogies that made him a household name during his five-year run on Law & Order.

Phil Hoover, VP/Market Manager & General Manager for Entercom Indianapolis, says, “We’re thrilled to have a star like Fred Thompson join our Newstalk 1430 lineup. He will definitely bring a wealth of political experience to the microphone and tackle all the challenges facing our country with a unique insight. His sense of humor will keep things interesting as he chats with our listeners.” Newstalk 1430, WXNT-AM, has a lineup which already features Glenn Beck, Dennis Miller, Neal Boortz, Alan Colmes, Phil Hendrie, Monica Crowley, and local morning host Abdul Hakim-Shabazz.

“Since he is a newcomer to radio, Fred Thompson won’t sound like the same old talk show. And, in today’s world, his consistent conservative positions will serve an important role to keep our elected officials honest,” adds Scott Sands, Director of Operations & Programming for Entercom Indianapolis.
